Walgreens Pharmacy Operations Manager


  • Responsible for daily non-clinical pharmacy tasks and administrative duties, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations and positive customer experience. Acts as a full-time certified pharmacy technician.
  • Handles pharmacy systems to gather patient and medication details and process prescriptions. Assists in overseeing pharmacy technicians and cashiers, following company policies, laws, and ethical practices.
  • In charge of selecting, scheduling, and developing pharmacy staff. Provides training, coaching, and performance management. Makes decisions related to performance management issues, including discipline and termination.

Customer Experience

  • Welcomes customers and patients, offering help with products and services. Resolves complaints and answers non-clinical questions to ensure customer satisfaction. Shares best practices in customer service.
  • Builds strong customer relationships by anticipating needs and proactively providing services for an excellent pharmacy experience. Focuses on enhancing healthcare services for customers.

Operations

  • Assists pharmacists in patient care, including registration, prescription entry, medication preparation, and prescription counts. Completes calls to patients and physicians under supervision where permitted by law.
  • Independently delegates and assigns non-clinical tasks in the pharmacy, ensuring timely completion and efficient workflow.
  • Prepares and files necessary reports and records as directed by pharmacy management, maintaining compliance.
  • Organizes pharmacy schedules, recommends staff hour allocation, and ensures the environment is orderly and well-stocked.
  • Manages pharmacy inventory and non-clinical administrative tasks, upholding compliance and organization.
  • Oversees non-clinical patient calls and facilitates the rollout of new technology or processes.
  • Ensures proper functioning of pharmacy equipment and collaborates with management on recordkeeping and security measures.
  • Complies with company policy for Good Faith Dispensing and maintains asset protection techniques, addressing security concerns.
  • Communicates prescription errors, adheres to company error policies, and participates in quality improvement.
  • Handles insurance claims accurately to resolve customer issues and leads audits when necessary.
  • Supports store management in improving financials, quality, and service within the pharmacy.
  • Administers the Community Outreach Portal and coordinates pharmacy staff for community events, fostering retail partnerships.

People & Performance Management

  • Guides performance management for technicians, making decisions on discipline and termination as necessary.
  • Oversees technician recruitment, training, onboarding, and scheduling, ensuring timely completion of training modules.
  • Identifies knowledge gaps in pharmacy operations, supporting training through hands-on methods or assigned modules.
  • Assists in verifying team licensure compliance with regulatory standards and maintains selection and training procedures.

Training & Personal Development

  • Maintains PTCB certification and other state-required certifications or registrations.
  • Enhances pharmacy and healthcare knowledge and skills through education and training as per company guidelines.
  • Pursues professional growth by self-assessment and feedback, using mentors or supervisors where available.

Communication
  • Communicates important messages from support centers and participates in key meetings and check-ins with management.

Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Certification from PTCB or ExCPT.
  • Minimum one year of experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting.
  • Fluent in English (reading, writing, speaking).
  • Flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
  • Willingness to receive immunization certification within 90 days of employment as required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in managing or leading teams.
  • Prior experience with Walgreens with favorable performance evaluations.

Salary Information
