Job Description

UC Health is hiring a Full Time Sr. Business Intell Analyst

The purpose of this position is to support organizational needs for data reporting, data extracts, visual dashboards, and related metrics to inform decision-making, planning, and continuous improvement across UC Health-with a special focus on the Neuroscience Institute. Responsibilities include the collection, manipulation, and dissemination of data to support clinicians and decision-makers at all levels of the organization.

This role also includes opportunities to work with emerging technologies. Ideal candidates will have some experience applying AI-assisted analytics, such as building simple interfaces using AI agents or exploring methods for extracting insights from unstructured clinical data within medical records.

The position leads development projects with junior staff and is responsible for the creation, documentation, and support of business intelligence (BI) solutions from Epic databases and other data stores. Strong attention to detail and data analysis experience are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Analytics Development and Support:

  • Supports information requests from inception to delivery, translating client requirements into appropriate reporting objects that tell a story with data including, but not limited to: analytic scorecards, dashboards, and reports.
  • Provides solutions and alternatives to problems/issues including adhoc reports to support offered solutions.
  • Responsible for monitoring data quality of related reporting datasets.
  • Works with data requestor or stakeholder to validate results.
  • Provides support and recommendations to level I Business Intelligence Analysts to enhance their technical skills including but not limited to participation in design and code walkthroughs.
  • Executes reporting design changes according to established procedures.
  • Provides maintenance support for all queries or reports.
  • Provides user training and/or support to stakeholders.
  • Provides timely and accurate support to resolve reporting errors and user reported problems.
  • Utilizes and adheres to production support standards and promotion process.
  • Acts as a resource / subject matter expert for the UC Health Departments.
  • Ability to work independently and meet competing deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and communicate solutions effectively.
  • Meets with users to determine the technical specifications and analytics components of a project or program.
  • Determines and manages workload priorities.


Coordination:

  • Identifies and recommends changes in workflow, procedures, forms and/or data to make optimal use of system resources.
  • Provides Epic product function, design, and reporting expertise and experience needed for successful development of analytics.
  • Analyzes business processes and clinical workflow to ensure proper system configuration for reporting.
  • Assesses and escalates user requests and issues.
  • Works with programming teams on application development.
  • Testing and Documentation:
  • Provides documented solution to problems/issues.
  • Develops detailed, written, and inclusive analytic test plans.
  • Performs complete testing of reports and software and validates application requirements are met.
  • Contribute to the testing of software tools that will allow knowledge workers to compare and map fields to those that exist within the data warehouse.
  • Documents and maintains all required system design and build documents.


Project Support:

  • Provides task level detail for project plans, including suggested schedules and skill set of team members required.
  • Provides accurate and timely individual status reports.
  • Documents and ensures timely resolution of project issues.
  • Coordinates effectively with team members.
  • Supports the institution's internal and external, strategic and operational reporting needs.
  • Informs management of all issues that are impacting or will impact assigned area(s).
  • Assists with regulatory requirements.


Customer Relationship:

  • Builds consultative relationships, establishing value for the department as a key partner for producing high-quality, actionable information that meets the needs of decision-makers at all levels of the organization.
  • Conveys technical messages in layman terms so that the receiver can understand, regardless of their technical aptitude.
  • Facilitates end user meetings.
  • Provides consults to end users.
  • Conducts presentations as requested.


Other duties assigned by Manager:

  • Provides occasional backup for other duties as needed.


Qualifications

  • Minimum Required: Bachelor's Degree - Business Intelligence/Analytics related field.
  • Preferred: Master's Degree - Business Intelligence/Analytics related field. | Epic Data (Caboodle / Clarity) certified.|
  • Minimum Required: 3 - 5 Years equivalent experience.
  • Preferred: 6 - 10 Years equivalent experience. 4 years equivalent experience can substitute for a BA/BS degree.
