About the position

This position is a hybrid position (buyer and repair coordinator). Develops and implements category strategies that enable UPS to procure goods and services within assigned categories at the best overall cost of ownership and best value. Subject matter expert within assigned category with a deep understanding of spend, savings, market intelligence, supplier metrics, and other performance indicators important to internal stakeholders. Engages with internal business stakeholders and suppliers to drive continuous improvement and optimize the supplier base. Plays a leading role in negotiations and supplier relationship management. Verifies that all sourcing initiatives meet category-specific regulations, follow appropriate risk mitigation protocols, and ensures that specific contingencies for the assigned category are in place. Provides administrative or technical support to ensure effective on-going operations. Applies knowledge of established processes and procedures to execute with excellence. Requires full proficiency in a range of assignments gained through training and considerable experience. Provides solutions to problems in situations that are atypical or infrequently occurring. Takes a broad perspective to problems and spots new, less obvious solutions. Identifies key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data. Completes work with a limited supervision. Likely to act as an informal resource for colleague with less experience.
