Your initial responsibilities will include design, procurement, and implementation for our external clients of industrial IT solutions ranging from and not limited to wide area networks, local area networks, wireless (radios and cellular), copper infrastructure, and fibre infrastructure (both multi mode and single mode). You have an in depth understanding of network equipment including hands on experience configuring switches, firewalls, DMZs, routers (including configuring layer 3 networks), and other network equipment. You have in depth knowledge of various routing protocols such as RIPv2, OSPF, and others. Cisco experience and certifications preferred, HPE Networking experience is an asset. Windows based server architectures including active directory implementations is consider an asset. Experience with and designing within an AutoCAD based environment is essential as well as performing conceptual design work within Microsoft Visio. Support of our internal services also is required from time to time and includes but is not limited to; Microsoft Windows Servers, Ubuntu Linus, Microsoft Exchange with SharePoint support. The position is based in our Guelph office however support is provided across all offices in Ontario, Alberta, and the United States. Familiarity with virtualization including VMWare and cloud based computing using Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure is an asset. Your knowledge of virtualization will be essential as we develop and implement our corporate cloud based strategies as well as offer these services to our clients. Strong communication skills including the necessary abilities to break down technical problems for non-technical people to understand while maintaining patience working under pressure is a must have skillset. Your responsibilities and reporting structure may be subject to change over time. Preference will be given to candidates with at least 3 to 5 years’ experience as a minimum. The position reports directly to our Systems Technology Team Leader. You will also be supported by a team of dynamic technology specialists who are specialized in network design, systems implementation and industrial control systems. Other responsibilities may be assigned or modified as required.
