About you and this role
Dow has an exciting job opportunity for a Lab Analyst in Plaquemine, LA. As the new Lab Analyst, you will utilize knowledge to gain experience in how to perform routine analyses and evaluate results. You will calibrate and maintain analytical systems to provide good analytical data used to produce and release products in a safe and reliable manner
Responsibilities
- Performs routine analyses.
- Collects samples according to the Sample Plan.
- Prepares basic calibration standards.
- Performs basic calibration and preventative maintenance of analytical systems.
- Utilizes statistical tools to assist in the validation of data, applies basic statistics, interprets results, and takes appropriate action.
- Monitors analytical systems, identify problems, conducts first-line troubleshooting, and escalates as appropriate.
- Documents, communicates, and archives analytical results and calibration data.
- Follows EH&S and operating discipline management system (ODMS) procedures and practices for work tasks.
- Suggests improvements to lab work processes and tools.
- Escalates non-routine requests to the appropriate team member for follow-up
Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED equivalent and one or more of the following:
- Associates degree or higher in a science discipline is required. In lieu of a degree, Dow will consider those with three or more years of relevant military experience.
- A minimum of 2 or more years of industrial lab experience.
Also, Required
- Able to work overtime as needed.
- Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule.

- A minimum requirement for this U.S. based position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with chromatography and lab information data systems.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, such as Word and Excel.
- Bachelor of Science in chemistry or another field of science.
Additional Notes
- The Dow Chemical Company does not offer relocation assistance for this position. This includes reimbursement for travel expenses incurred to and from test sessions/interviews.
