This position compiles data for and assists in financial reporting requirements for the State.<br><br>Job duties for this position include:<br><br><ul><li>Preparing financial statements to be included in the State’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).</li><li>Coordinating work performed by state agencies in support of the ACFR.</li><li>Preparing other state and federal financial reports, including the State’s Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA).</li><li>Maintaining and developing ad hoc databases and reports to support the gathering and testing of financial information.</li><li>Independently develop data layouts and methodologies to create process efficiencies for completing and reviewing the ACFR funds, notes, other required supplementary information, and other ledger data analysis.</li><li>Advising state agencies on the interpretation and application of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</li><li>Assisting in the development of ad hoc reporting for data analysis and providing financial information to management and the financial community. <br><br></li></ul>Telework options for this position are dependent on where the employee lives. With approval, employees that live within 50 miles from the primary work location may telework up to 50%. Resume tips are available </em><em>here</em><em>.<br><br></em><strong>To qualify for the Accounting Officer Senior, applicants must possess:<br><br></strong>Two (2) years of experience using or querying a complex accounting system, including compiling data and running reports.<br><br><strong>To qualify for the Finance Specialist 1, applicants must possess:<br><br></strong>Three (3) years of experience using or querying a complex accounting system, including compiling data and running reports.<br><br><strong>Experience for both positions must include</strong>:<br><br><ul><li>Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).</li><li>Demonstrated ability to prepare and present financial data and reports in a professional, timely, and effective manner.</li><li>Strong skills designing, building and maintaining complex spreadsheets and databases </li><li>Analytical and organizational skills to identify issues and propose effective solutions. </li><li>Strong communication skills to establish effective working relationships and clearly document policies, procedures, and related information.</li><li>Demonstrated respect for diversity and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive and collaborative work environment.</li><li>A bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field as determined by the agency may substitute for one (1) year of experience.<br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications<br><br></strong>MMB values diverse perspectives and encourages all qualified candidates to apply, even if they do not meet 100% of the preferred qualifications.
