Job Description

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) invites applications for the position of Dean, College of Information Technology (CIT). UAEU is the first federal university, founded in 1976 and is approaching its 50th anniversary. UAEU remains the only fully comprehensive university in the UAE. It is situated in the historic city of Al Ain, which is about 100km inland from both Abu Dhabi and Dubai. UAEU is becoming a research-intensive institution. It enrolls approximately 20,000 students, with a growing international student body. As UAE’s flagship university, it offers a full range of accredited, high-quality graduate and undergraduate programs through its nine colleges. The College of Information Technology was established in 2001 and has earned a strong reputation for excellence in research and teaching. CIT employs an outstanding team of international faculty, all of whom hold doctoral degrees and are recognized internationally for their contributions to research, innovation, and education. CIT is housed in a spectacular 300,000 sq feet facility, providing innovative, immersive learning technologies and hands-on laboratories. The position of Dean provides an outstanding opportunity to lead the College of Information Technology with a futuristic vision to make a positive impact on the College, the University, and the UAE. The Dean will lead an ambitious reorganization of CIT aiming to harness the prevalence of computing and the rise of artificial intelligence to advance science and technology innovation, for the benefit of society. The College aims to serve as the nexus of computing and informatics at the United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) and the Middle East region. The Dean of CIT will build on the strength of its current research programs to create new multidisciplinary research initiatives and partnerships, critical to its long-term stability and growth, across and beyond the university campus. The Dean of CIT will expand the education programs portfolio with the creation of new multi- and interdisciplinary degree programs to address the rapidly evolving job market needs. Responsibilities Reporting to the Provost, the Dean provides strategic, academic, and administrative leadership for the College. Key responsibilities include: • Leading the College in alignment with UAEU’s strategic vision and mission. • Managing all administrative, financial, and academic operations of the College. • Overseeing curriculum development, faculty affairs, student life, institutional assessment, and continuous improvement. • Supporting faculty development, promotion, and evaluation, while fostering excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. • Driving the growth of research and development programs and expanding external funding. • Cultivating partnerships with industry, government, and international academic institutions. • Leading fundraising efforts and strengthening alumni and donor relations. Minimum Qualification

The successful candidate will be a collaborative and visionary leader with a demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and academic administration. Minimum qualifications include: • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Telecommunications, or in a related field required. Preference will be given to candidates with education from preeminent institutions • Full Professor with a minimum of 15 years of higher education experience, including at least 8 years of academic leadership in higher education, in a research intensive institution • Strong track record of scholarly research, publications, citations, and externally funded projects. • Strong track record in teaching reflecting academic excellence • Proven record of professional accomplishments and effective leadership • Ability to build collaborations and partnerships with industry and other top universities globally. • Demonstrable success in the acquisition of external funding and development of community engagement.
