Day to Day

The Data Engineer’s role is to integrate data from a variety of sources into common data domain models. The purpose is to support data and analytics activities across Glassdoor and Indeed’s global business functions. This is a technical role that involves defining changes to the data lake data model and building scalable and efficient processes to populate or modify data lake data. You will have practical data processing and data modeling experience in a “big data” environment. Also, experience in data modeling, test automation, and building reliable, trusted, and efficient data pipelines. This work contributes to our mission of helping people get jobs by providing insight into the global job market and supporting product innovation. That makes it easier for job seekers and employers to find each other.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing data pipelines (ETLs) to integrate data from a variety of sources into the Glassdoor (Indeed) Data Warehouse
  • Designing and implementing data model changes, working cross-functionally with various product and data teams
  • Providing documentation, training, and consulting for data warehouse users
  • Participating in on-call rotation supporting critical business data pipelines

Skills/Competencies

  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics
  • 1+ years of experience with big data and streaming technologies (Snowflake, Redshift, Hive, Kafka, Spark, Flink or similar technologies)
  • Exposure to workflow orchestration and pipeline tools such as Airflow
  • 2+ years coding experience (Python or Scala preferred)
  • Passionate about data and learning new skills and technologies

NYC Metro Area 111,000 - 161,000 USD per year
Seattle Metro Area 104,000 - 152,000 USD per year
Scottsdale Metro Area 83,200 - 103,500 USD per year
San Francisco Bay Area 111,000 - 161,000 USD per year

Salary Range Disclaimer

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Indeed's total compensation package for employees.
