As Cruise Staff, you will be an assistant emcee while supporting the Entertainment Hosts during adult and family activities ship-wide. You will participate in day and evening deck parties, game shows, trivia contests, sports challenges, ship/island tours, bingo, support Port Adventures and help with island rentals and activities on Castaway Cay.

This is a SHIPBOARD role

You must:

  • Be genuinely interested in a career at sea and willing to live and work onboard a Disney Cruise Line vessel
  • Be willing to follow and perform safety role, emergency responsibilities and associated responsibilities as specified in the ship Assembly Plan
  • Be willing to uphold the general safety management responsibilities as specified in the Safety Management System in areas and operations under their control
  • If applicable, be willing to share a confined cabin with other crew members and appreciative of working and living in a multicultural environment that has strict rules and regulation

Your Responsibilities:

  • Have a valid passport and C1/D Seaman's visa (DCL will provide you with documents to obtain this)
  • Complete a pre-employment medical
  • Obtain a criminal background check
  • Bring approved work shoes

Basic Qualifications

  • Participation in an Interview/ Audition process required.
  • Minimum one year experience in an entertainment, resort/recreation, or related field
  • Minimum one year experience working within a position that demonstrates hosting experience, stage experience and public speaking skills on a microphone
  • Exceptional presentation, communication and organizational skills
  • Relates well to audiences of all ages and demographics while offering a passion for engaging an audience in an entertaining program and event
  • Strong microphone skills, teamwork, detail-orientated, flexible, and committed to Guest satisfaction.
  • Strong aptitude to learn choreography and basic scripted material
  • Ability to lift and move heavy boxes (i.e. recreational equipment)
  • Maintain Disney Character Integrity
  • Uphold Disney show quality and performance standards, with the ability to learn and perform rehearsed roles.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the set-up/clean-up and facilitation of all scheduled entertainment catering to an adult and/or family audience.
  • Function as assistant emcee for onboard events in various venues, orchestrating an inviting and energetic atmosphere, while requiring microphone use and stage presence.
  • Provide support to the Entertainment Hosts
  • Seek out Guest contact, engaging and interacting with all Guests of all ages, while displaying boundless amounts of energy and enthusiasm.
  • Perform meet and greet functions in the lobby/atrium during Guest embarkation and debarkation, as well as in front of Walt Disney Theatre; providing help to Guests needing special assistance.
  • Assist during ‘show stops’ in the Walt Disney Theatre, as directed
  • Learn, follow and perform basic scripted material and choreography
  • Execute selling of Bingo cards, using up-selling techniques
  • Fulfil all Disney Castaway Cay/ Disney Lookout Cay job responsibilities associated with position and line of business.
  • Conduct required sanitizing procedures based on USPH requirements when associated with appropriate programs and events.
  • Assist with Port Adventures operations – inclusive of dispatch duties and occasionally assisting with escorting Guests on Port Adventures as the Disney quality representative, as directed.
  • Host activities, games and trivia contests during televised sporting events.
  • Help maintain appropriate Guest flow in all areas onboard, advising Guests of other onboard activities to encourage good flow around the ship, and strong Guest participation and involvement.
  • Provide an emotionally and physically safe environment for Guests at all times.
  • Maintain stock and assist in distribution of departmental supplies
  • Perform abbreviated shows based on weather conditions, safety issues, and Entertainment Management decisions.
  • Report costume, technical, and maintenance needs.
  • Prepare and strike programs ensuring proper clean-up, inventory program consumables, maintain costumes and cleanliness and order for program storage spaces.
