Job Summary:

Reporting to the Director of Athletics and Wellness and the High School Principal, the Attendance & Athletics Administrative Assistant is essential for the smooth daily operations of the high school. This position demands a passion for the work, critical thinking skills, and a strong commitment to detail. The Assistant will be a key collaborator, interacting regularly with Ellington Public Schools employees and the wider community, and is expected to deliver excellent customer service to both internally and externally.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Answer and direct incoming phone calls and greet visitors at the main office.
  • Monitor, respond to, and manage main office and attendance voicemail messages.
  • Manage and respond to messages in the EHS Attendance email inbox.
  • Sign in late students, issue passes, and record attendance updates.
  • Enter and track attendance reported by parents.
  • Review and reconcile student attendance sign-in logs throughout the day.
  • Review teacher-submitted attendance by block to ensure accuracy.
  • Coordinate student dismissals. ? Schedule and manage automated attendance calls (Robocalls).
  • Generate and distribute attendance letters. ? Receive, enter, and file doctor's notes and other attendance-related documentation.
  • Assist with attendance referral reports
  • Assist with Credit Appeals processing at the end of each semester.
  • Enter fees and payments in the student information system
  • Main point of contact for bussing
  • Utilize the CIAC website for scheduling, eligibility verification, and roster input.
  • Coordinate appointments and schedule meetings for the Director of Athletics
  • Manage athletic scheduling, including game/practice calendars, postponements, and rescheduling.
  • Maintain student-athlete records, including participation, awards, and eligibility documentation.
  • Maintain an inventory of equipment and uniforms.
  • Coordinate with security for athletic event coverage and manage key distribution/collection.

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's degree in public or business administration will be given added consideration. The Board reserves the right to consider a combination of education and experience that it, in its sole discretion, considers substantially equivalent to education alone.
  • Successful experience in an office environment for a minimum of two years is preferred, ideally within a school setting.
  • Possess excellent computer skills with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office and G Suite (Google).
  • Knowledge of Infinite Campus is a plus.

Compensation: This position is part of the Ellington Educational Support Staff. Compensation and benefits are set per contract, under Classification C: Administrative Assistant II. This is a 10 month, 7.5 hour per day position.
